Since 2010, the Township of Huron-Kinloss has been monitoring the Emerald Ash Borer migration and the affect the bug has on our ash trees. First signs of the Emerald Ash Borer were discovered in Lucknow in 2010, followed by Ripley and Point Clark in 2011.

The 2021-2022 ash tree removal project is a result of the Emerald Ash Borer infestation which has caused the death of thousands of ash trees in Huron-Kinloss. The Township of Huron-Kinloss has now authorized Crawford Loggers to remove all ash trees, and any hazard trees in the Township. The trees are being removed due to safety concerns regarding falling trees or tree limbs. Work is expected to be completed by December 2022. You may experience park or trail closures during this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. This website allows residents an opportunity to ask questions or view frequently asked questions and answers about the project. Municipal staff is monitoring this site and will be able to answer questions.

While the work is in progress, please be aware, be patient, and be respectful of the contractors and the work being completed.

The Township of Huron-Kinloss and the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority are working collaboratively on a tree planting project in Spring 2023. Please check back to this page often for updates.
