Heritage Park

The Heritage Park Survey is now closed. Staff would like to thank the community for submitting their comments and will be doing a report to Huron-Kinloss Council in December.

Background

Heritage Park is currently under review as part of a Township of Huron-Kinloss Park/Playground Revitalization Program.

Heritage Park is a predominantly wooded parcel of parkland, and residents and visitors use the park as a place to walk, play, and rest. The park is surrounded by Gregs Trail, Heritage Drive, Park place, and Kris street with entrances off Gregs Trail, Heritage, and Kris Street. The park is approximately 4.5 acres (1.78 hectares) and contains mature trees, newly planted trees, and many wind damaged cedars; drainage ditches on the south and north sides and a modest playground.

With the Playground Revitalization Program, the Township aims to revitalize existing “traditional” play spaces to meet the needs and interests of the community and to offer new, vibrant, and engaging experiences for all visitors. The Township’s vision is to seamlessly integrate play opportunities within existing Township parks to: Encourage social, physical, and mental engagement of persons of all ages and abilities, foster motor, sensory, creative, and social skills, and connect visitors to the park with access to nature.

We Want to Hear from You!

Township staff want to connect with residents to identify the community’s needs and interests for Heritage Park as they relate to the park’s playground and supporting park amenities. Please take a moment to complete this Survey. The Survey will close Nov. 10, 2023. Your comments and input is important and will help us shape the future plans for Heritage Park!

What is Your Vision for the Park Revitalization?

Your ideas and preferences will be used to develop design concepts. The Heritage Park Revitalization Project will be completed in 5 Stages:

Stage One: Onsite meeting with residents to gather input, and complete surveys October 4th at 5 pm.

Stage Two: Engage consultant firm to develop conceptual plans

Stage Three: Residents to review conceptual designs and provide feedback to staff and consultant.

Stage Four: Review final design and cost estimates to be proposed to council.

Stage Five: Depending on scope of work, and cost estimates incorporate into budget

Please join us on Wednesday, October 4 for a public meeting at Heritage Park starting at 5pm. Staff is looking forward to gathering your feed back and meeting everyone at the play equipment in the middle of the park, located at 913 Gregs Trail. Hard copy of surveys will be available with mapping at the park.

If you have questions, please contact Director of Community Services Mike Fair at mfair@huronkinloss.com or 519-395-2909
