Timing of November 30th 2019 Information Meeting

This comment represents the opinions of the property owners of Bruce Beach # 148 and 149:

We strongly object to the timing of the information meeting on Nov. 30 at a date when most of the affected cottage owners, being seasonal residents only, are not able to attend. We were told at the May 25 meeting at the Point Clark Community Centre that subsequent meetings on this issue would be held on dates when most property owners could be present. What changed? In the Q & A section the following answer was given to the timing issue: A project under the Drainage Act does take time to follow the legislation. The date was chosen in order to keep the project moving. Please see Report DRAIN2019-11-17(External link) that was presented to Council on November 4, 2019. As noted in the report, if the public meeting was delayed until the spring, construction of the project could not begin any earlier than 2021. There are many property owners that are greatly affected by the water and have encouraged Council to provide a solution to the water issue in a timely manner. We are convinced that all affected property owners would rather have a well-researched solution which follows a sound cost-benefit analysis to a rushed solution.
