Proposed solution for the section of Bruce Beach cottages #150 to #134 of an infiltration gallery

This comment represents the opinions of the property owners of Bruce Beach # 148 and 149:

We are very much in favour of having the source of the water flowing onto Bruce Beach Road between cottages #150 and 137 investigated first. We would like to see the properties along Lake Range and Highland inspected for pipes draining directly onto the hill or near the west end of their property from eaves, sump pumps, hot tubs, etc. and have these capped.

And we are very much in favour of continuing and improving the low tech/ low cost solution of the drainage ditch east of Bruce Beach Road. It has proven to be very successful since it was dug in the fall of 2018 and was able to handle large rain events. Rather than rushing to implementing the costly solution of the infiltration gallery we would like to see the ditch deepened and kept free of vegetation and debris and the situation monitored over the Spring and Summer of 2020. We realize that concept #5 of infiltration has previously received a lot of support, but we suspect that the support was given before the cost burden to the individual cottages was known. Assessing cottage owners in the affected area with an average cost of $4000 per cottage to fix what is a relatively minor problem is excessive. Our cottages #148 and 149 have never experienced flooding and therefore we are definitely not interest bearing this kind of cost.
