The Proposed Infiltration Unit along Bruce Beach Road from Cottage 137 to 150

As a part owner of 144 Bruce Beach it is incredulous to me that such a large magnificent structure has been proposed as a solution to such a wee problem, unbelievable.

We have suffered over the years from flooding on our property, and the suffering really has only been minor - short-term ponding at the back of the property with no impact on the cottage itself. Although the flooding is an annoyance, what is more disconcerting is the cause - a drainage system that was permitted by the Township along Highland Drive, permitted without proper care for water disposal. This is unbelievable and no doubt, probably illegal.

Now the suggestion is that we should suffer more and more, for a problem we did not create, by paying a huge assessment for this magnificent infiltration unit. That is unfair to all of us along Bruce Beach Road from cottage 137 to 150.

I am opposed to this infiltration unit and its cost. It is not required.

What we need is a built-up the road in this area and the installation of an inexpensive storm water retention facility (a ditch, partially of French drain design) on the east side of the road capable of containing the Highland Drive’s runoff until it can naturally seep away. And, yearly maintenance to keep it free of weeds and debris.

I am asking the Township to please be realistic and take a more common sense approach to effect an easy solution to the “wee problem.”
