Water and Wastewater Servicing Master Plan
The Township of Huron-Kinloss is growing and we need to plan what growth looks like over the next 25 years to ensure we have the right water and wastewater infrastructure in place to support growth.
With the help of B.M. Ross and Associates (BMROSS), the Township is developing a Water and Wastewater Servicing Master Plan to help guide the future plans for growth. We invite you to work with the Township to provide input on growth and water and wastewater servicing along the lakeshore, in Lucknow and in Ripley.
The purpose of the Water and Waste Water Servicing Master Plan is to:
- Examine future residential and non-residential growth in and around Lucknow, Ripley and the Lakeshore and;
- Identify water and wastewater infrastructure needs to support future growth.
The Master Plan is focused on these areas because Provincial and County policies direct residential growth to locations with municipal water and sewer services. In the case of the Lakeshore, this area is being looked at as growth is expected to continue as a result of demand.
Through the Master Plan process, future residential and non-residential growth will be forecasted for the next 25-years. Following the forecasting of growth, we will identify areas where growth could go. Once these areas have been identified, we will look at options for how water and sewage services could be provided. This will include looking at how practical the servicing options are, what other upgrades may be needed, potential impacts, timing, and costs. This will help us decide where it makes sense to put future growth and what steps need to be taken next.
The Master Plan will be a tool for current and future municipal staff and Council to use when making decisions regarding land uses, planning for infrastructure upgrades, and budgeting. It will be a blueprint for where future growth in Ripley, Lucknow and the Lakeshore should go and how municipal water and wastewater service may be provided.
