Walpole Trail Shoreline Ash Tree Project

The ash tree removal project is a result of the Emerald Ash Borer infestation which has caused the death of thousands of ash trees in Huron-Kinloss. The Township of Huron-Kinloss has now authorized Savage Bros tree contractors to put all ash trees safely on the ground, and any hazard trees in this parcel of land. The trees are being put on the ground due to safety concerns regarding falling trees or tree limbs. Work will start in Spring 2023 (weather permitting) and will be completed by May 2023. During this time, the Walpole Trail Shoreline will be closed to the public. We apologize for the inconvenience. The ash trees were identified by orange dots last fall. The tree branches and wood will be cut into lengths and piled along the shoreline road allowance property. Residents are welcome to any wood remaining. Any chipping required will take place in the spring / summer / fall of 2023.

The Township will be promoting a tree planting program in the Walpole Trail Shoreline in the Spring of 2024. Please contact recreation@huronkinloss.com to participate in a tree planting program.
