Misconceptions

The flooding alone Bruce Beach Road south of Highland Dr. is a result of snow melt and rainfall during the annual Spring melt. It doesn't happen every year. It was bad last year, however due to gradual melting and little rain this Spring there has been no flooding. I am all in favour of alleviating this yearly cycle, but not by directing the water straight into the lake. The Township Road Allowance in this area is 40 feet wide. The road itself takes up about 20 feet. Therefore there is plenty of room for a ditch on each side of the road if needed.

The three "outlets" at Cameron Lane, #98, and Tenth Concession carry water that is almost exclusively from the East side of Lake Range Dr. The water coming through these outlets are loaded with nutrients from the farm fields where the water originated. The Storm Water Detention areas suggested in proposal #4 would go a long way to reduce the growth of algae in the lake as well as plant life along the shoreline. It would also reduce property damage to adjacent private property next to the gullies by reducing the flow during Spring melt and large rain events during the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
