A question from a local Resident about tree planting!

I hope HK is going to do some tree planting next spring to replace some of the trees that have been cut down along Boiler Beach Rd. It is especially noticeable at the bottom of the 10th by the mail boxes. What species will you replant?

This is a great question! In the past five years the Township has planted over 200 white pine from the the 10th concession north to Heritage drive, anticipating the removal of the Ash Trees. Staff will continue to monitor the remaining trees progress of growth since the ash tree competition has been removed, we anticipate the remaining species will flourish. In the future, any tree planting would include white pine, red oak, and white cedar. If anyone is interested in planting trees near Lake Huron please check out this link which has a an extensive list of native plants including trees, but also highlights and identifies invasive species as well!
